:: chairman's foreword ::welcome to 2006, a new year and a new home for the luna owners club. since i set the club up in 2002 it has grown way beyond my expectations and with original club members from as far away as vietnam, we can honestly say we're truly a global club! although i had hosted the LOC on my british lambretta archive site it seemed a natural choice to move the club to lunabase so that all luna owners would have as much available information as possible at their fingertips. i'm sure you'll agree that justin and sarah have done wonders for the club, so thanks to them both. so that everyone knows who's who in the club set up: this year lets really put the luna line and the LOC on the map - the proposed luna landing at this years v.m.s.c show looks like the place to start. so if you can get there it will be good to see you, whether you're showing your scooter or not.
are we due another luna landing?? v.m.s.c. (vintage motor scooter club) annual vintage and custom extravaganza

brian of the vmsc says:
last year, cookieman (andy bilsland) suggested the idea of a luna meet up at this event - not to try and win trophies (unless you want to!), but as a group display for all those who'd like to bring their lunas along for the day.
line up of the luna landing in kelso (scotland) 2004: inspiration for the next luna landing. luna-tic adam winstone travelled 360 miles each way to kelso in 2004!! but this venue's nice and central so that should be encouragement to make it from anywhere in the UK ;) :: entry details ::i need to get our details to the organisers this week, so if you'd like to join the group luna display (currently up to 11 confirmed lunas) then copy and paste the following list into an email, add your details, then send to sarah@lunabase.co.uk by friday 24th feb at the latest: first name(s): model: :: more info ::see the vmsc site: http://www.vmsc.co.uk/_pages/scootering_advert.htm there's a rideout with the midland scooter alliance starting at macdonalds watering hole, coventry road, birmingham (nr birmingham fc football ground) at the same venue on 8th april, saturday evening, there's a pre-show event hosted by the all or nothing s.c. - it will be a disco, with the dj playing varied scooter sounds. admission £4 on the door. see http://www.allornothingsc.co.uk for details. :: sat eve meet up ::if anyone's interested in the idea of booking a b&b on saturday and meeting up with other luna owners for a few beers at the pre-show event, post your thoughts on the messageboard - maybe we can get a good deal on accommodation if there are a few of us.
this month’s featured luna: philip di gi’s cometa philip's a member of the lambretta club u.s.a. and a new member of the LOC. he's based in new england: "i have had the machine since purchasing new in 1972, in new york city and used it just briefly in upstate n.y. due to the really short season there, the fact that we spent most holiday time cruising the coast (reason for the purchase to begin with...) and family objection to further use (my son, a trauma surgeon in providence, refers to it as a donorcycle), use was curtailed but i carefully mothballed it for hopeful future use. there it sat for 30 yrs, until last year when i placed it back in active service. the main reason in truth was portability on a sailboat....it was not to be." "it is a much different scenario now....we have recently retired, moved much closer to the boat (makes for pleasant solo trips to the boatyard) and the riding is splendid. the luna along with my ancient 300sd have become hobbies i now have the time to enjoy." "we are here in connecticut, on the shoreline; a great place to ride. i have not seen other lunas here, but that is what makes it so much more interesting to own and enjoy. we are fortunate to have sufficient space and outbuildings which allow opportunity for undisturbed attention....my biggest problem.....keeping the grandchildren (7 boys) from becoming too attached over their parents objections....but I love the look in their eyes (see photo). really enjoy the web site and i think the luna will be around a long time.....i'm off to grease the front wheel bearings as we speak. regards p.d.g."
before you fit the rear hub to your luna engine do not forget to fit the rear shocker mounting bolt into its housing. if you assemble the hub and then try to fit the shocker bolt it will not go into the housing!!! regards - the LOC/lunabase team: pete, jem, justin and sarah |
