Hi Luna Owners,

This years VMSC Vintage & Custom Extravaganza is on Sunday 30th March 2008 at the usual venue in Ryton, nr Coventry, UK. The VMSC is keen to host the Luna Owners Club again, and some LOC members are interested in having a joint luna and j-range display at the event. 2008 is also the 40th anniversary of the luna line.


The VMSC event organisers need to know how much space we want, so please let me know by the end of this month if you are interested in exhibiting either a luna or a j-range machine along with other club members. email: sarah@lunabase.co.uk

The event is free to enter as an exhibitor, and there are a couple of reasonably priced B&Bs in the area - let me know if you need details. See lunabase update of 11/12/07 below for more info on the event

Once again in 2008 our show will be held at the Sports Connexion at Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Coventry on 30th March. Everyone is welcome, either as show entrants, or as visitors and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever. Once again there is a mass ride in, organised by the Midland Scooter Alliance - more details on www.midlandscooters.com

Entry forms for both Trade and Exhibitors can be downloaded from www.vmsc.co.uk and club entries are especially welcomed.

This year there will also be a Dyno on site where you can test your scooter out.

Major sponsors this year include Continental Tyres, Scootering, VE-UK, Bikesure & Classic Scooterist Scene and all teh usual traders will be in attendance.

hello all

there has been a bit of an extended break, but lunabase is now being launched back into the land of the living!

justin has tackled the spam posting problem on the messageboard. you will now be prompted for a username and password when you access the messageboard, hopefully this should stop automatic spam posts. login details are as follows:

username = lunabase
password = lunabase

once you have logged in, the messageboard operates as usual.

as i also now have my PC setup, i can add more regular updates. and LOC members czechmate and leny have kindly volunteered to be jointly responsible, along with justin and i, for answering your incoming lunabase email enquiries, which will speed things up on that front.

On Sunday 15th April 2006 the Vintage Motor Scooter Club host their annual Vintage and Custom Extravaganza at the Sports Connexion Centre at Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Coventry. This is the fourth year the event has been held at this venue following the successful events of 2004, 2005 & 2006.

Last year the VMSC donated a total of £400 to local charities including £275 to the Warwickshire Air Ambulance in lieu of help with the show by the local 'All or Nothing Scooter Club', who had this as their designated club charity.

The event which has been running since 1990, and has been held in a number of locations including Milton Keynes, Bletchley, and more latterly Alumwell and Bloxwich, is expected to attract over 2,000 visitors to the venue, and there will be over 120 scooter entries from all over Britain, including some of the best machines currently around. The show will also include many scooter related trader stands selling goods including scooter spares, auto jumble, Scooter scene clothing, records, full scooters and other associated scooter paraphernalia.

Scooter exhibits at the show are entered in over 30 Vintage and Custom scooter judging classes and the machines and owners will be vying for the prestigious 'Best Vintage in Show' and 'Best Custom in Show' awards.

This year promises to be even more interesting than previous years with a high proportion of 'first time shown' machines and a selection of some of the finest custom scooters in the country.

Doors are open to the public at approximately 10:00 and admission is £4 for adults with accompanied children admitted free.

In addition our friends from the All or Nothing Scooter Club are once again hosting a pre-show do at the Sports Connexion on Saturday 14th April. For more details please see www.allornothingsc.co.uk

hello lunafolk. we're now up to 136 LOC members from 16 different countries including vietnam and south africa. plans for the v.m.s.c. show luna owners display in april 2007 are underway with similar numbers to last year expected, but an even more exciting display planned. lunalanding #4 could be the biggest and best one yet! check the messageboard for details.

the latest site updates are:
- some new pics sent in by daz_h in accessories,
- and in safety and upgrades, daz's tip for upgrading the rear brake using an arm from a j range.
- there are also a few new luna parts available on jem's page
- and a new link on the links page to 'scooterist internet radio' for those who haven't yet discovered the weekly groovy scooter sounds.

..at last an update, sorry its been a while, i've been busy at work, and justin's been restoring his jet. there are new bits on jem's page. adam winstone and leny have sent in some great stuff to share with the global luna community: a funny aussie luna advert (nice to know you can travel on your super-sleek dream machine in utmost comfort at a cruising speed of well over 50 mph!!), and a 2001 luna press article from swedish classic motor mag with some stunning photos. greg b, new LOC member and lucky owner of eight lunas, has sent in some info about about his yellow and chrome steed in your luna.

- some press articles including adam's jetset article & taff's custom vega. welcome to the LOC, taff!
- a few more rare and related luna items, such as rally patches.

thanks to regular lunabase supporters leny, czechers, dave booth and daz h for sending us some of the latest stuff for the site.

there's been a recent spate of new LOC members from austria, sweden, the us, germany, australia and the uk, some no doubt prompted by pete's article in scooterist scene - we're now up to 95 members.

right...time to dust that bbq off while the sun's shining!

well, we managed to get the tshirts back ready for the luna landing!! so we will be bringing them up with us for those who have reserved one.

there are a few extra ones as well which we will be bringing up (but numbers are now limited!) - although, i expect another batch with a new design will be available in the not-so-distant future.

these oddballs cornered us and forced us to sell them a LOC tshirt each!
and they dont even have lunas!

these include 5 restored and original from scootopia. there are 14 vmsc luna exhibitors of which 5 are lady owners - good effort from the girls! a steady trickle of new members are joining the LOC - we're now up to 70 members from 11 different countries.

it's plasticman's 36th birthday today so he's allowed an evening off lunabase. there's a couple more pics added to dave's stunning cometa resto and also rickard from sweden's new seat - see resto projects page. a new help and advice section has been added to the messageboard - anyone can post on here - you don't have to be a member of the owner's club, or even own a luna. LOC members can now see selected details of other member's lunas in the members list. scootopia have added frame struts to their selection of luna parts - sarah

a scootering magazine custom luna article has been added to the press articles page (thanks to scootering for giving us permission), and there are a couple more pics in the adverts page - thanks to adam winstone for sending us a pic of an original british dealer gp200 poster. some new parts have been added to scootopia's page, and rickard from sweden has sent in his resto pics - rickard's luna 50cc restoration.

LOC members can now see how many luna-lads and luna-chicks have registered by having a look at the members list - we have had to go by guesswork in some cases, so if you're a girl but a male symbol appears next to your name, or vice versa, please email mail@lunabase.co.uk to let us know straight away and we'll correct it!

he has been working on solving the problems some of you have had registering as LOC members, and trying to send us photos via the site...it seemed to be down to the email service we were using. we're now using a new service - hopefully that should have sorted things out. which means we can concentrate on getting more stuff up on the site as there is quite a bit in the pipeline.

still on the scrounge for your luna related stuff! - would be nice to see some luna riders machines in the your luna area. - so get those digital cameras out or wipe the dust/move the books off the scanner and get sending in

as far as the design / layout of the site goes, this will be developing and refining as the site starts to include more content, so apologies for any temporary images etc
